Schatten Design Luthiery  Product Code  Description SDLCWM Schatten coil winding Machine Front View Winding Rewind broken pickups or custom wind your own. This machine is simple to set up and easy and accurate to use. It is made to machine shop standards and is ruggedly built into a heavy duty ABS cabinet. The main shaft is fully supported by ball bearings. This machine is patterned after the one that I've been using in my workshop for the past 8 or so years. Technical Description This coil winding machine is designed to properly wind coils using wire ranging from approximately 32 ga. up to 46 ga. The coil winder consists of a strong, heavy wall ABS box with counter-rotating arms. The winder's arms rotate in opposite directions to allow you to wind coils in either a clockwise or counter-clockwise manner. The entire assembly is mounted on a sturdy composite base. Mounted in front of the tower is the cross feed limiter. The limiter is used to preset the span at which the coil wire can be wound across the bobbin. A re-settable digital rotation counter is mounted on the front of the tower assembly. The tension on the wire, as well as the movement of the wire between the cross feed limits, is done by hand. Technical Specifications Maximum speed (no load): 900 RPM Actual winding speed (as tested under load): 750 RPM Feet per minute (tested actual winding speed at full torque): 400 f.p.m. Time required to wind an average 5.6k strat type single coil: approximately 9 minutes. SDL42G Schatten 42 Gauge Wire 1/2 Pound Spool 42 gauge - This is the most common gauge of wire used in building and rewinding most electric guitar and bass pickups. This wire is coated with a single build of poly and it has a nominal diameter of 0.0028". Each half pound spool contains approximately 25,000 feet of wire......enough to do 5 or 6 single coil pickup or 2 to 3 humbuckers SDL43G Schatten 43 Gauge Wire 1/2 Pound Spool 43 gauge - Slightly finer than 42 gauge, this wire is coated with a single build of poly and it has a nominal diameter of 0.0024". Each half pound spool contains approximately 33,000 feet of wire. SDL44G Schatten 44 Gauge Wire 1/2 Pound Spool 44 gauge - Finer still than 43 gauge, this wire is coated with a single build of poly and it has a nominal diameter of 0.0022". Each half pound spool contains approximately 41,600 feet of wire. SDLMPT Schatten Multiple Puller Tool The Multiple Puller tool is a specially designed dual purpose puller that comes with two different internal puller blocks. With the 'light duty block' it can safely apply upward pressure to remove control knobs from guitars and amps. The 'heavy duty block' is used for pulling bridge and tailpiece studs and comes with the hardware necessary for extracting Gibson, Schaller, or Gotoh bushings without damage to the instrument. Eighty pages, spiral bound SDS2TK Schatten S2 Selmer Tool Kit Tool Kit for installing HFN-S2's into petite bouche instruments: A 2 piece tool kit is available at a negligible cost for installing the pickup into instruments having the smaller sound holes (petite bouche). Larger sound hole and D shaped sound hole instruments do not need the tool kit as the opening in these instruments is easily large enough to get one's hand in. The tool kit consists of one tool that is angled and articulated to allow you to install the pickup through the sound hole and a second tool that enables you to pull the endpin jack or endpin jack preamp into place through the end block.
